Goodbye Jailbreak – Apple releases fix to iPad iOS 3.2.1 and iPhone iOS 4.0.1

Many iPad and iPhone users were suprised at the new Jailbreak version released about a week ago. It was the simplest and fastest Jailbreak solution ever done. It was so easy that any old auntie and grandpa can do it as long as you know how to open a browser. Well, Apple had now catch up and thwarted the Jailbreakers with the release of its new iOS 3.2.2 for iPad and 4.0.2 for the iPhone.

The Jailbreakers had exploited the big security hole in Apple’s PDF viewing engine where it was possible to allow a website to get beyond the iPhone /iPad security system and run whatever code it wants. Because of this, the the security loophole was being use to hack or jailbreak the iPad/iphone which then allows it  to run unapproved and pirated apps.

So Goodbye Jailbreakers – you need to work hard again to offer a new solution. For those who have jailbreak their devices, the upgrade will remove the Jailbreak and you will lose all the Cydia apps. I am not too sure whether saving the SHSH blops will help me to recover my Cydia apps. Let some one else try it first !

As it is just a security patch, I will choose not to upgrade as I have installed several free and paid Cydia apps on my iPad and I will not want to lose them now.
