Proton INSPIRA is the Waja replacement

Posted on October 14, 2010

It is now official . The new Proton Waja is now named Proton Inspira. A nice name but will it inspire the public to flock over to Proton showrooms ? Test drives were arranged yesterday to several auto reviewers. There will be 3 models – a 1.8 manual, a 1.8 liter CVT auto and a 2.0 CVT auto. All are using Mitsubishi engines and the model is basically a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer. Proton is now offering a ” affordable ” Japanese car to the Malaysian public.  At launch, the Inspira will have about 26% local content at launch, with the aim of raising it to 40% within the next few months and straight up to 65% within a year from the launch date once the local vendors have been fully prepped. Pricing is expected to range from RM 75000 to Rm90000.  With its boy racer sporty looks and a established Japanese ( Mitsubishi ) as its parent, it is inevitable Proton will see new success in this model.  Bookings can be make now with a RM 1000 deposit
