Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 expected release Sept – Dec 2011 ?

Posted on June 29, 2011

The news of a successor to the present Galaxy Tab 7″ was a hush hush affair. Most of the interest was on the 8.9 ” and just released 10.1 ” model. There was wide speculation Samsung will probably discontinue the 7″ model  but  leaked information from Samsung HD Italy blog has renewed interest in this possibility.

The successor is rumored to have its OS in Gingerbread 2.3.4 not Honeycomb .   Gingerbread is the only operating system that now provides integrated telephony features, a huge range of compatible programs, and on which Samsung has proven it in the Galaxy S II smartphone.  Honeycomb 3.0 is still plague with several issues – market access inconsistency, poorer apps optimization

Having experienced the new Galaxy S II  with Exynos 1.2 dual core ( on Gingerbread 2.3.3 ) and the renewed TouchWiz – I foresee the performance of this new refreshed model will just blow the present Tab out of the water. A worthy upgrade indeed if it materialise

Features expected from the Galaxy Tab 7 ( version 2 ) :

  • Exynos Processor Dual Core 1.2 GHz
  • 1Gb Ram
  • 2GB of ROM
  • 16GB of internal memory
  • Micro SD
  • Tab proprietary connector with USB Host capabilities (adapter)
  • 7 inch WSVGA
  • IPS technology for the display
  • Ability to call, video call and send SMS
  • Touch Wiz 4.0 halfway between the honeycomb and the dell’S2

Expected release is this Fall ( Sept – Dec 2011 )
