I am using android 1.6 and would like to know if I will require SDK for an upgrade. I haven’t downloaded anything yet. Please give me a precise step by step method to upgrade my dell streak 1.6 to 2.1 or 2.2

Without install SDK, your computer will not be able to detect your phone.

we followed up the istructions and got stuck after running windows .bat file.
It displayed download update done but the phone could not be turned off unless the battery is removed. After removal of the battery and powered on with “volumes up and down + power” keys ,there was no display of “apply update.pkg”
    Please help

  10. Appiah: please post your queries in the appropriate thread not here. Anyway I guess you have rename your file incorrectly. Check again , when you download the file should be a zip file update.zip

Rename it to update.pkg. Most probably yours is update.pkg.zip
When you rename you will have a warning message , just ignore it. if you did not see this you have rename it wrongly. Have your windows or mac to allow you to see the hidden file extensions

Nice blog. I really like your section on Android. I think it will definitely be the OS to look out for. I believe it will do better than iOS. I use the iPhone 3GS, but am tired of it. Apart from the Apps, it is not a good phone to use. Been thinking of getting the Desire HD, but lately am considering the HD2 and runnning it on Android. What’s your advice? Do you think I should get an Android device altogether or is the HD2 a great compromise? HD2 is also much cheaper on Lelong. 🙂

  12. Hi,

I followed your instructions for changing the kernel and flashing modaco on my tab. All went well but after I flashed the rom update and rebooted the system, I get stuck at the Galaxy Tab loading screen and nothing happens even after 3 minutes. Can you help?

    Reply
    • Is it OK now ? Rebooting can take up to 10 minutes or more. In my blog I mention whole process took me about 20 minutes
If you are still stuck, than you need to reflash your rom – just flash Rotohammer JME to revive – select repartition, PIT, PDA
      Than try again

    • Google voice navigation is not available in all countries ; probably you country is one of them
You can do this but your TAB needs to be rooted and you need TiTanium Backup.
      – Uninstall original/stock map using titanium backup.
      – Download and Install the latest version of Google Maps from the market – you need MarketAccess to see it
      – Uninstall Google Maps using the market (this is to clear off any data that might still be in the phone)
      – Install Brut 17 apk off SD Card

      Download BRUT 17 from : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887

I have been on the net for 3 days and have googled dozens of sites, blogs….etc to try to rid the ! in the triangle after rooting Samsung Galaxy SII. Must were confusing and incomplete and did not give downloading sire for the all important correct version of kernel. Yours was the simplest and most convenient and I did it in less than 5 minutes. Thank you and keep up the good work.

  19. Just read your rant on Dr Peter Vanezis.
Is this the same guy who played a part in princess Diana’s inquest ?
Is he as bad as you say he is ?
It’s just that i was reading about him and your blog came up and I found it real interesting that you think he sold out.

    Not that I disagree.
I’m just intrigued because of the mystery surrounding Diana’s death.

  20. Hi Sir,

I’m actually seeking for your help.
I just bought huawei mediapad X1 recently and intended to Install the latest Kitkat.
I read out your comment in lowyat forum and its brilliant.
I’m not “I.T SAVY” kinda person so that i found it kinda tricky to install it on my own.
I already downloaded the B102 file but im afraid it will mess up the system.

I really appreciate If i can go and meet u up. So that i have someone to guide me on upgrading to KK without any worried.

    Thanks for your precious time.
